I get to work at Camp Lone Star in La Grange, Texas as videographer throughout the summer, and have been having a blast making the weekly videos. This is a preview of a video I made for an event called Race for the Kingdom, which is a day of competitions throughout the whole camp. More to come.

It’s been about eight weeks since the start of the semester, and I am starting to enjoy the class more and more each week. The first few weeks were a little rough, but most of the time you have to truck through the monotonous to get to the more exciting anyway. I always get way ahead of myself, and definitely lack a lot of patience in that area, so this class has been good to force me to hold the reigns for a little bit. Overall I’m looking forward to progressing in the class. On a side note, I really love teepees.

Absolutely none. I have designed, and I am very competent when it comes to computers and the internet, but never have I had experience designing and constructing websites. I am completely illiterate in the ways of HTML and CSS, which is exactly why I enrolled in Intro to Web Design, because I know nothing. I vaguely remember in 5th grade our school librarian attempting to teach us how to build our own website, but her ambitious attempt quickly died out after realizing how little she knew about creating one herself. In almost every design job position and internship I have applied for has wanted web design experience in addition to the other areas of design. I hope to use my knowledge gained from this class to continue to build my resume and expand my artistic experience. So here’s to new skills!

In studying web design, I want to take my ideas and knowledge in art and design and be able to apply them to the web. I don’t want to be confined to templates or pre-determined layouts. I want to create a design that I want and will function the way I want with the look I had envisioned. In addition to personal interest, I hope that this class can give me skills that will enhance my resume and make me an all over more marketable artist and designer. I want to be well versed in as many fields as I can in the art world, and web design is definitely a weak area. Recently I have become interested in the role of design in Advertising, and seeing how prominent a role the internet plays in lives, it seemed pertinent that I learn how to apply my knowledge and love for design to the web. Hopefully I will be able to combine my interests into something beneficial and profitable in the industry and my life.

Welcome to my blog! I will be using this site as a way to post my designs from my web design class this semester, and other artistic explorations I may have. I am an art student at Florida State and love finding ways to incorporate my everyday amusements and inspirations into my work. I love hats, Boy Meets World, adventures, and picnics. I love dancing, although I’m not very good. If I could be anything in the world, it would be a ballerina, but that would be a disaster. I’m learning to say “no”.  I want to do more than just exist. I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy creating it!
